Cash Converters to cash in for 2012 World Cup of Darts
In darts everything is possible. For the first time, an event held on small scale will use its generated revenues to sponsor a major one.
This is, however, possible in the game of darts, where Cash Converters Championship has been nominated as a sponsor for the World Cup of Darts, scheduled to take place this year.
However, apart from the sponsorship, there are other underlying reasons that must be understood in the entire situation.
One such reason lies in the global exposure of darts beginning from continental expansion.
This can further be manifested from the selection of Germany as the second time venue for the Cash Converters Championship.
The event will take place at Hamburg's Alsterdorfer Stadthalle from the 3rd of February. The event will feature 24 players from all over the world, arranged in pairs to compete in the event.
In addition to this, PDC, once getting hold of Cash Converters, has been able to reserve the total purse of the event at a whopping 150,000 pounds.
This has further been coupled with the expansion of broadcasting rights of the event. The tournament will now be shown live in Holland, Germany, Australia and the Middle East.
According to PDC Chairman Barry Hearn, "We thank Cash Converters for their continued support of the Professional Darts Corporation and our major events."
"Both the 2010 World Cup of Darts and last December's Cash Converters Players Championship provided great drama and excitement and we're thrilled that Cash Converters has continued to back this emerging event," he continued.
On the other hand, Cash Converters has also expressed its confidence for joining the alliance as sponsors in the tournament.
In a statement that was issued by the sponsor, it was also said that the popularity of darts has increased rampantly with the passage of time.
It is, therefore, pivotal to expand their branding ventures through which they can effectively launch themselves in the international market.
The first round of the tournament will be based on teams battling against each other, whereas the second round will comprise of individual encounters between darts players.
The event, where, on one hand, will help in refining the game of players, on the other hand, will also play a profound role in the expansion of the game on a global scale.
