Cash an american check in mexico?

Am in cancun mexico just got a check sent to me but i cant open an acount with it and they wount cash it ,even if i had an acout i have to wait 6 months and have 4 times that amount in my acount to be cashed.

is there a place that some one might know were i can go?

You have to ask the people, who send you a check, to do a wire transfer or send you American express check, which will take 30 days to clear, or the best for you if they can send you cash , you will loose 10% but you will get money in cash. Good Luck!
