Cash on a trip to St. Croix?

If I am going on a trip to t. Croix (U>S> Virgin Islands) how much cash can I take on the plane? Over 100,000.00?

  1. Sa_San is correct.  You'll have to go through Customs before you get here and it's there where you must declare if you're carrying more that $10,000 in cash.

    I suggest that you either:

    1.  Leave your money in the bank.  Most of the bank ATMs don't charge a usage fee.  

    2.  Get Traveler's Cheques.

    3.  Use a secured credit card.

    Just so you know, you can return to the mainland with up to $1600 in merchandise duty free.


  2. If you take over $100,000.00, you will have to report it. By law if you take over $10,000 cash, you have to fill out a Currency Transaction Report.  

    I would suggest you walk with small cash, and not flash it around.
