Casie Cathrea plays a relaxed 3rd Match Play round at US Girls’ Jr Championship
Casie Cathrea won her third match effortlessly against Anne Freman in the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship. The score was 6 and 4 in Cathrea’s favour.
Contrary to experts’ prediction, Cathrea did not appear under pressure and played calmly throughout the match. The commentators said that this was the main reason why Cathrea won despite the otherwise assessment of the experts.
This was the second match for both the players, who have come up the ranks after facing tough competition in the initial rounds. This match was crucial because the winner will go to quarterfinals.
This quarterfinal match will be a different story with the winner facing the defending champion, Ariya Jutanugarn.
The highlight of the match was the amazing performance of Cathrea, who remained calm, even after she was sent back to tee due to a lost ball at the second hole.
The game started with both the players quickly disposing off the first hole. The second hole was where the exciting moment of the game came with Cathrea teeing off. She launched a powerful drive that seemed to sail right over the top of the pine tree near
the corner.
She was sent back to tee again after the ball refused to turn up in the allotted five minutes for the search. She remained unfazed throughout and tee off again.
She got to the hole in three strokes and sunk the ball in the hole. At this point, both players had equal scores.
Cathrea birdied her way through the third hole and the match progressed onwards. This was the point when Cathrea had a firm grip on the match. She was on top of her game but Anne Freman proved to be a tough opponent.
From the fourth hole till the every end, it appeared at times that the match could swing either way. Both players were very determined and the match turned very exciting.
In the end, it was Casie Cathrea who emerged victorious. The match was one of the most exciting ones in the tournament and provided great entertainment for the fans. In the next match, Cathrea will face the defending champion Ariya Jutanugarn.
