Even though Los Blancos are tipped as favourites to overcome Malaga, Casillas has maintained that their opponents have the potential to cause inconvenience for the Whites.
Madrid will host Malaga in the round-of-16 of the Copa del Rey. Iker Casillas believes that the first leg is going to be crucial as it will determine the team which will qualify for the next round.
According to the footballer’s Facebook page, he was quoted as saying
"Malaga are a complicated rival. They are a good team and if we want to go through, we will need to have a great match [in the first leg] at the Bernabeu."
"This will be a nice tie," he added.
The Spanish skipper also discussed the recent improvements that the Malaga squad has undergone. The Andalusian outfit was bought over by a Qatari owner who has given the Spanish club the space to sign expensive players. Consequently, Malaga completed many
significant transfers in order to strengthen their roster.
Important signings included Jeremy Toulalan, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ruud-van-Nistelrooy-c31966. Therefore, Casillas has insisted that Malaga could prove to be very tricky opponents.
Los Blancos were able to secure a comfortable 4-0 victory when the two teams locked horns in the Spanish Primera earlier this season. However, Casillas is of the view that it is going to be very different during the Cup tie.
"In La Liga, we managed to get a result which did not match what Malaga did on the pitch.”
Real Madrid go head to head with Malaga on January 4th in the first-leg of the Copa del Rey tie.
