Casio tk-7000 scanning

have very recently purchased a scanner for my Casio-TK7000. Have plugged it all in however is not registering any barcodes. I believe that the TK-7000 should have a Not Found PLU Maintenance programme but just not doing anything. Do I need to programme each product with a PLU number or code?
