Caspar Netscher aiming to land a victory over Frankel in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes at Goodwood
With, Caspar Netscher, being in pretty good shape, trainer Alan McCabe has high hopes for his colt. The young runner is en route to another victory at Chantilly to compete in the Prix Jean Prat on 1st July, 2012.
The three-year-old has proved himself on a number of occasions, and his most recent victory being the Group 2 Mehl-Mulhens-Rennen (German 2,000 Guineas) at Cologne on 28th May, 2012, where he rode under rider, Shane Kelly, and defeated the P.
Schiergen trained, Amarillo, by 1 ¼ lengths.
The son of Dutch Art, out of mare Bella Cantata, excelled on the 1 mile track, and left tough runners like, Red Duke and Energizer behind him to finish in third and fourth place, respectively.
The trainer is highly optimistic about the runner’s future, and is thinking of taking him to the 1 mile Group 1 Qipco Sussex Stakes at Goodwood.
There he will compete against Sir Henry Cecil’s wonder-horse Frankel. The trainer believes that the horse has the ability, and the talent to take on the undefeated runner as he stated:
"Caspar is in really good order at the moment, he's very fresh and well. He goes for the Prix Jean Prat on Sunday and after that the owner is keen to go for the Sussex Stakes - someone has to take on Frankel."
Appreciating the superior racing skill the bay colt demonstrated at Cologne, the trainer commented:
"Caspar won in a very quick time over there. He's won over every trip we've ever run him over, he's so versatile.”
The Charles Wentworth owned runner has the skill to come out on top in every race, considering he has triumphed in five of his thirteen starts.
The trainer commented that the runner has stirred a significant amount of interest from the studs, and most of them want to get a hold on him before he becomes popular.
Bred by the Meon Valley Stud, Caspar Netscher, the colt has three victories in the Group 2 category, and one in the Group 3.
It is only a matter of time before he collects a massive Group 1 victory, and his connections are sure that his first Group 1 victory will be, when he defeats Frankel at Goodwood.
