Caspar Netscher to be ridden by Kieren Fallon for the Breeders’ Cup Mile instead of Robert Winston
Caspar Netscher, the two-year-old Dutch Art colt out of Bella Cantata is going to share the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf with the rest of the contenders competing for the Cup. His trainer Alan McCabe has very wisely chosen Kieren Fallon for the ride, as the
top jockey is famous for riding six horses to victory at Churchill Downs before.
The two-year-old colt has raced nine times this season and out of those runs he has won three, the very first victory being his maiden which was broken on the first availed chance. Caspar Netscher has been ridden by J Murtagh and Kieren Fallon but has been
primarily raced by Robert Winston.  Just one of his victories is attributed to Kieren Fallon as the other two have been with Robert Winston onboard.
Caspar Netscher’s first victory after the maiden was at the York on 19th August, a Group 2 race. The runner up for the race stood out to be Richard Hannon trained Lilbourne Lad under Richard Hughes and breaking through the wire after the runner
up was Burwaaz under charge Ed Dunlop.
A noteworthy entry was A P O’Brien’s Reply who came sixth in the race with C O’Donoghue onboard.
Caspar Netscher’s next attempt that turned out to be a victory was on 17th September at Newbury that left Richard Hannon’s under charge Redact as a runner up and James Toller trained Saigon third in line when it came to getting done with the race.
McCabe told At The Races: "He's come out of Newmarket very well. His work has been good since then and we're very happy with him. He's in the Breeders' Turf Mile and in the Sprint on the Friday, but he's going to go for the Mile on turf”.
The reason for switching the jockey from Robert Winston to Kieren Fallon is due to the ban that has been imposed on Robert Winston. It is clearly the jockey’s hard luck not to have a chance to race the ride on such an important occasion, especially when
the two had been great with one another throughout the season.
He added: "Kieren's going to ride him as Robert's banned which is unfortunate as he's done such a good job on him all year”.
"As when Robert got banned the last time, Kieren rode him at Newbury”.
Now only the race will disclose if Caspar Netscher will be able to turn his tenth start during this season into a fourth victory.
