Cassidy Krug dominates Women's 3m Springboard heats: Day three – 2011 Pan American Games
One of the emerging American divers, Cassidy X Krug proved her dominance for the best qualification spot of Women's 3m Springboard event on day three of the diving competition at the 2011 Pan American Games. The meet ended on Friday, October 28 at Scotiabank
Aquatics Center in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Just like the Olympic Games, the Pan American Games take place once in four years and is considered one of the biggest international sport events.
The 25-year-old Krug defeated Laura Aleida Sanchez of Mexico in the preliminary round to claim the finest qualification spot. She obtained a wonderful score of 345.60 points to enter the final as best diver.
With her impeccable effort, she remained 5.60 points ahead of her Mexican rival, who qualified as the second finest athlete into the final round by gaining a total of 340.00 points.
The Mexican faced strong resistance from Jennifer Abel of Canada, who was eyeing the second best qualification spot, but remained marginally behind Sanchez. Abel made her way to the final round as the third qualifying diver by accomplishing a nice score
of 339.80 points.
Nevertheless, the Canadian remained significantly away from her following competitor Paola Espinosa of Mexico, who ended her stint with an admiring score of 303.50points. She was followed by Brazil's Juliana Veloso, who remained 7.90 points behind her and
entered the final as fifth position holder with a total of 295.60 points. 
In the meantime, Emilie Heymans of Canada proved her determination for the sixth qualification spot. Heymans remained 7.10 points away from her former finisher as she gathered a score of 288.50 points.
She was chased by Kassidy Leigh Cook of USA, who was almost 12 points behind her preceding diver and qualified into the final round as seventh best finisher, scoring a total of 274.70 points.
The eighth qualification spot was claimed by Diana Isabel Pineda of Colombia who accumulated 256.25 points.
The spectators admired ruthless efforts of all participants, who struggled hard to earn top spot in the final round. Furthermore, these finalists will have the chance to compete each other in the final round, where the winners will be awarded medals for
their invincible efforts.
