Cassie Oltman grabs Girls 100yard butterfly gold – West Virginia High School State Championships
Cassie L Oltman of NDHS devastated hopes of her opponents by grabbing the title of Girls 100yard butterfly on final day of the West Virginia High School State Championships for Boys and Girls in Morgantown on February 18.
Oltman displayed her wonderful skills and captured gold medal of the butterfly discipline. She remained comfortably ahead of her rivals throughout the event and made her way to the finishing wall in a time of 1 minute and 00.19 seconds for gold medal.
She was chased by Alyssa K Morris of CMHS, who was 0.97 seconds slower from Oltman and secured the victory stand for silver medal with an effort of 1 minute and 01.16 seconds. Morris edged out her closest competitor, Courtney Miller of BUHS with a difference of 0.15 seconds as she transpired on the finishing wall with the timing of 1 minute and 01.31 seconds.
In the meantime, BUHS’s Maggie Miller dominated the Girls 100yard freestyle swim by clocking an effort of 54.09 seconds. Miller remained 0.48 seconds ahead of Delaney Johnson of EHS, who completed her swim in second place with timing of 54.57 seconds. The third finest spot was occupied by Abby M Hendershot of PKHS, who was just 0.24 seconds away from Johnson and reported an effort of 54.81 seconds.
After a while, the crowd witnessed forceful efforts of Megan S Clemens in the Girls 500yard freestyle swim. Clemens, who previously won gold medal of the 200yard freestyle, continued her winning streak and conquered gold medal of the 500yard event with an effort of 5 minutes and 06.78 seconds.
She was trailed by Madisyn M Lyons of WIN, who was approximately five seconds behind her foregoing finisher and climbed the podium for silver medal with an effort of 5 minutes and 11.20 seconds. Katie Murto of MHS stayed almost ten seconds slower and hit the finishing end with the timing of 5 minutes and 21.78 seconds for bronze medal.
In addition, Clemens expressed contentment after clinching her second gold medal of the championship while the position holders were awarded medals at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship.
