Cassius Clay to Muhammad Ali (Part 12)
It was 1988 when Muhammad Ali was chosen by the California Bicentennial Institution for the U.S. charter to epitomize the liveliness of U.S. charter. Ali was also a distinguished guest at the 1988 Contest of Roses Procession, launching
the U.S. bill's 200 days of honour.
The always loved Muhammad further received a Force of United States of America medal, claiming him to be the most renowned Muslim man from U.S.A.
The powerhouse from the past appeared at the 1998 Australian Football League’s final where Anthony Pratt, a rich and famous businessman from Australia, invited and arranged for the legend to see the match together.
Muhammad Ali was and is still adored by people from all religions and societies. The media loved him, celebrities wanted to hang out with him, even huge businessmen wanted to spend time with the old timer. He had and still has fans
in every part of the world. Ali is a world famous personality.
All the love and attention that this former stylish fighter has received is simply because of what he achieved as an athlete. He made the world see things it had never even dreamt of. His personality during his professional boxing
career was one of his most vibrant traits.
He got people excited. Ali put his body on the line simply to reach greatness whilst entertaining the world with his outstanding skills. There is no doubt that he reached greatness and also went beyond it. When his boxing tenure
ended, the world wanted to return him the favour for all the great moments and unbelievable memories he had given them.
Everyone wanted a slice of the most thrilling character in history. The enormity of his aura was sublime. He could make an arena with 65,000 people literally feel and almost touch the vigour he had inside of him along with the vastness
of the force he possessed. Ali was a magician who had no props.
He just had his courage and the most surprising will to win. His thirst for stardom was really something bizarre. Just to do what he did or reach where he reached, a human would have to be somewhat out of the ordinary and/or a little
wacky.
In 1999, Muhammad Ali accepted a unique and exclusive honour from the British Broadcasting Corporation at the Annual BBC Athletic Character of the Year Award Ceremony. It was an emotional moment for the former three time Heavy weight
champion. The gratefulness could be seen on his face at that moment. He may have had limited expressions due to his disease but still his eyes were glooming and everyone could see how that truly made him feel.
People around the globe know what kind of a person the king Muhammad was. Hence, even with his disorder, everyone could probably imagine what the superstar was feeling and what he would have said had he not been sick. He had established
his character so concretely that his inner personality could never be forgotten.
After his Pro-boxing career ended, Ali devoted his time and efforts to humanitarian causes. He has helped millions of hungry people around the world and is currently working with several charity foundations and organizations. Ali
also created ‘The Muhammad Ali Parkinson’s Centre’ to provide help to those who could not afford.
Even now, Muhammad- the icon- never forgets to host an annual Celebrity Fight Night. Through this massive event, where famous international celebrities are invited, a united effort is made to generate proceeds for the Muhammad Ali
Parkinson’s Centre as well as other charity organizations.
In the last decade, this event alone has generated over US$ 45 Million that have been forwarded to help millions of needy and helpless people. This is one reason why Ali is respected and regarded by people from every background
and ethnicity. He hasn’t limited his charity by geographical limitations.
Muhammad married a total of five times and has ten children. Out of them, only one child, his daughter Laila Ali thought of keeping her father’s fame alive. She began her professional boxing career in 1999 and showcases her dad’s
style and technique. However, her legendary father disapproves of his daughter indulging in the sport of boxing as he claims it is not a sport that is meant for women.
Ali was always in everyone’s heart and will remain so. No one can ever forget the sheer raw talent he showcased to the world in his early days. Just as the humanitarian values within him are superior and different than many other
legends, so was his style of fighting different than the rest of the boxing warriors.
