Castaway Wanderers optimistic to end their long drought: 2011 Premier Rugby League Championships
The Castaway Wanderers are hopeful to end their long drought in 2011 Premier Rugby League Championships victory this year in West Vancouver. The Wanderers will be taking on Meralomas of Vancouver in the final after one decade.
Last time they qualified for the final of championship in 2002. Wanderers are very excited about their first appearance in the final after long time and they are hopeful to regain the title in today’s clash. The CW has remained undefeated in the ongoing
Premier Rugby League Championships.
The Wanderers have been boosted by couple of old players who made their way back in the side after long absence. Kenny Goodland and Frank Walsh will appear for the Wanderers in the final after two years. The pair was also the part of team back in 2002 when
they lifted the trophy last time. The pair is joined by a Canadian player, Scott Franklin, who represented his national side in the world championship of 2007, played in France. Franklin made a comeback to his club after two years as he was indulged in overseas
rugby.
Scott Franklin said that their club is helped by senior campaigners that will surely enhance their chances to carry the day. He added, “There’s that veteran group from the championship years, that I was fortunate to be involved with, but also a younger set
of players this club has rebuilt with over the past few years who should be getting serious looks for the 2011 World Cup team”.
Ciaran Hearn, another Canadian capped player expressed same kind of feelings. He argued: “We’ve had teams the last couple of years who were supposed to win, but which perhaps didn’t perform up to expectations”.
The veteran player told the media that his side is all set to take revenge of back-to-back defeats during last few championships. He admitted that Meralomas of Vancouver have played well in the tournament as they have qualified into the finals for fourth
consecutive time. The match will certainly bring some excitement and thrill to the play.
