Castaway aiming to land the Grade 3 Coolmore Lexington Stakes to land a spot in the Kentucky Derby
Castaway will race with all his might and try to land a spot in the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands.  The prestigious event is just around the corner and the Bob Baffert trained runner is looking to increase his graded earnings by competing
at Keeneland.
The son of Street Sense, out of mare Priceless Storm, will compete in the Grade 3 Coolmore Lexington on 21st April, 2012, eyeing the purse of $200,000. Provided he bags the victory, he will have a golden opportunity to compete
in the Kentucky Derby.
Owned by Mrs. John Magnier, Michael Tabor, and Derrick Smith, the colt felt short of the victory in the Grade 3 Sunland Derby, as he finished in seventh place, a great disappointment for someone who has twice the kind of potential that he has.
Mounted by R. Bejarano, he showed great promise as he succeeded in the Grade 3 Southwest Stakes, where he emerged victorious by defeating, Jake Mo, at Oaklawn Park on 20th February, 2012.
With his skill and capability, it is extremely likely that Castaway will race as a favourite in the mega event.
With more determination than ever before, this colt is bound to bring everything he has to the table. Motivation, fervour and speed are the key elements which will confirm the much needed victory for Castaway.
Shaun Bridgmohan will mount the talented runner for the first in the career, and the duo will do all things possible to break through the wire first.
Just as much as Castaway needs this victory, other runners will also be looking at an opportunity to cash in at Lexington, so they can have a shot of making it to the Derby.
Morgan’s Guerrilla, News Pending, and Harlan’s Holiday are some of those contenders who will be competing and will aim to score.
This talented line-up of runners will make for an exciting event as the connections will be on their toes, hoping that their runners down the race in a magnificent manner.
