It's D, although India today is making an effort to soften caste lines by encouraging people to marry out of their castes.  Formerly, one could marry only within one's caste, and often only among a small group of sub-castes.  (As for answer C, it's logically impossible, since if one member of a couple marriessomeone from a lower caste, the other HAS to be marrying someone from a higher one.)
