Casting Alloy VS. Wrought Alloy?

Why are wrought alloys stronger and more ductile than cast? What kind of defects occur?

  1. It all has to do with the grain structure. Wrought alloys are "hammered/pressed" with the other is just casted. The grain in the wrought are aligned when the casted isn't.

    Castings can get all types of defects air/gas holes or bad castings from over heating or under heating. bad gating system, contamination.
