Question:

Casting Directors for Musicals: What 'type' of characters in musicals would suit me best?

Do casting directors look for particular voices for older roles versus younger roles?

As in, if you're young, but have a mature sounding voice, do you have no hope of finding a role?

I'm a 'young' soprano, but everyone I know tells me my singing voice sounds mature... I don't understand how this fits in with what roles I should be auditioning for.

Do I wait until I turn 40 and then start looking? haha

  1. It depends what you're auditioning for. If you're voice is mature, that's a good thing, even if you look young. And younger roles are more likely to have a soprano voice.
