Castleford Tigers hands over new contracts to Paul Jackson and Nathan Massey – Rugby League
West Yorkshire based English Rugby League club, Castleford Tigers, has announced the extension of stay for their front row players, Paul Jackson and Nathan Massey.
Officials at the club have confirmed the signing of the Jackson and Massey in a statement released on their website on Thursday, August 18. The club stated that they have handed over a one-year deal to Jackson and a two-year deal to Massey.
The 33-year-old Jackson, who joined Castleford Tigers at the start of the 2010 season, has expressed his delight on signing the new contract with the club. He said, “I'm really pleased to be going round again; I'm really enjoying myself at Cas.”
Yorkshire born Jackson started his rugby league career with the Huddersfield Giants in 1998. In 1999 he joined Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and made 98 appearances for them during his four-season stay at the Wildcats.
In 2003, Jackson signed a two-year deal with Castleford Tigers. During his first stay at the club, he made 27 appearances for the Tigers. He re-joined the Giants at the start of the 2005 season and remained there for five seasons, making 101 appearances
for them.
The Scotland international prop Jackson has expressed his confidence that he is physically fit and can perform with consistency in the top league championship. He further added, “There's a good bunch of lads here and hopefully we can finish this season on
a high and improve again next season.”
The 22-year-old Massey made his debut for the Castleford Tigers in 2007, at the age of 17. He joined the Castleford Tigers Academy, from the Walton Warriors, in 2007. He earned the Academy Player of the Year Award in 2007 and earned his debut for the senior
side through his impressive performance.
In the 2011 season, Massey has made 11 appearances for the Tigers. He has expressed his confidence that the new two-year contract will help him to develop his skills and become a better player. He commented, “I'm happy to be staying at Cas. I've come through
the system here and I never really wanted to go anywhere else.”
Speaking on the occasion, Massey expressed his gratitude for the management, coaching staff and seniors players for their support and care. He further added, “I've worked hard to get to the position where I am now; getting more Super League game time and
hopefully from here I will be able to become a first choice regular in the side over the next couple of seasons.”
Fans will be anticipating the impact of the two players in next year’s campaign.
