Castleford Tigers meet Leeds Rhinos again after their dramatic knockout from the Challenge Cup
Terry Matterson, the coach of the Castleford Tigers will march his outfit to meet the Leeds Rhinos once again for the Super League fixture which is lined up for tonight, Friday, August 12 after losing from Leeds at the semi-final clash of the Carnegie Challenge
Cup 2011 last week.
At the Keepmoat Stadium, on Sunday, August 7, Leeds snatched the victory from the jaws of defeat in a dramatic win of 10-8 against the Castlefords in the semi-final showdown of Challenge Cup, which had strangled their hopes of clinching the Challenge Cup
after nineteen years.
The wounds of the bitter defeat are still fresh, when the Tigers, who thought that they deserved to win more, will face those who ended Tigers’ dream of being the Challenge Cup 2011 titleholders.
However, Matterson wants his squad to incorporate the lesson learnt from their defeat against Leeds, to rebut in a much desirable manner tonight. Tigers’ coach wants his outfit to sustain their standing within the top eight of the Engage Super League Tables.
Currently, Leeds is floating a spot ahead of the Tigers within the League hierarchy, with only four more clashes left to cement the final placements of 2011.
While speaking about his plans for his clash tonight, Terry stated, “It's been as tough a week as I've had since I've been here. It's a challenge to get the guys up. What we went through on Sunday doesn't happen too often, but we have a lot of pride in this
side. We're hurting at the moment. We have to grow from it as hopefully we're going to play some semi-final football and that should stand us in good stead for the future.”
Matterson also shared that two of his very crucial squad members, Kirk Dixon and Brett Ferres have been inflicted with serious injuries which will oust them from the remaining season which was confirmed by the scan reports of the injured over the weekend.
However, it was further confirmed by the coach that Rangi Chase has been named in the 19-man squad for tonight but according to him, he will not be able to play the match.
