  1. what exactly are you using it for?

  2. Dont Dont Dont PLEASE!!! my cousin tried it and she deliverd a baby boy who didnt make it. They found out the baby had a bowel movement inside her 2 weeks ago (when she tried the castor oil) and had swallowed his own f***s, He died of phnemonia 3 days later in the NICU. Please be paitent, your baby is in you still for a reason and should be granted the choice of staing in your womb where it is safe and warm, you will have that baby when that baby  is ready. not far to go! Good Luck and Happy Parenting!!!

  3. It doesn't work. I tried it, once... Never again!

  4. NO!

  5. I took 2 tbs last night-  I couldn't keep it down more than one hour (i've had all day sickness this whole time, drinking it wasn't all that bad.  They have oderless/tasteless kind now) but that seemed to be long enough.  It made my contractions a bit stronger but they faded away.

I will talk to my dr. today and ask if she thinks its ok-   if she isn't against it I will take 4tbs tonight. (maximum daily dosage listed on the bottle)

  6. NO NO NO NO NO NO NEVER     this can cause the babies bowels to open prematurely and cause loads of other problems including heart trouble with the newborn

  7. I don't know anything about castor oil, but haven't you seen the cartoons?  It is always portrayed as a bad tasting medicine that doesn't work.  I say, stay away from it.

  8. No, from everything I've heard it's really not worth it....

Even my husband was like "ARE THEY CRAZY!!!!!!!"

  9. No, because I used it with my first child, and basically I ended up in the bathroom over and over because it gave me a stomach ache.  I actually went into labor, I don't know if it was because my baby was ready, or if it was because of all the pushing I did before hand.  It was very unpleasant, and just made me weak and tired, so I would not recommend it.

  10. Yes it works or mineral oil

  11. Not worth it!

I tried so many recommendations & none of them worked.

I just kept having irregular contractions until I was induced.

*I was 3-4cm for almost 2 weeks without any progression, my 3rd pregnancy & 36 weeks.

    It didn't work.

I was only induced due to hypertension, if not I would have stayed that way until nature decided to make things happen.*

  12. It wont work, nothing we can get our hands on/do will enduce labour, I tried everything! Baby will come when it is ready, castor oil can be seriously harmful. When I was in labour I ran up and down the stairs, I was 9cm when I got to the hospital 2 hours later.

  13. Well , if could not work and you would get the runs for a few days.

    or

2, it COULD work and during labor and a few days after you could have the runs.

    I wouldn't do it..

  14. personally I opted not to use this method, and have been induced with my first 2 pregnancies (waitin got see what happens with this one)

I didn't want to for fear that I would have bowel movement in the middle of pushing, Sounds terrible I know. I just thought that would be so embarassing, I have friends that have that happen to them.

However, I do know somebody that did try this method, and it worked for her, and no bowel movement during labor for her either. So it's possible I suppose. I think it probably just works for some, and others not. Or it could be sheer coincedence that she went into labor at that time, maybe she would have gone into labor at that time with or without it. Either way, if your really desperate, I'd say go for it. It can't hurt unless you have a fear like mine. lol

    Good luck

  15. No, don't do it! It often just gives you diarrohea and vomitting during labour, which you really don't want

  16. My feelings and experiences are that it is totally not worth it. I did try it, it's horrible and even if it does work (which it usually doesn't), they say it is only because you were about to go into labor anyway.

  17. To induce labor? NO. It could pass to your baby and the baby can pass merconium (sp?) and breathe it in which will cause health problems.

  18. Here is an excellent article about Castor Oil and the induction of labor.

However, it may be best to consult a doctor about this. This is a somewhat urgent medical need that shouldn't be left to wait for answers on a website. If you haven't already seen a doctor about this, you certainly should do so.
