Casual Men's Pants that Aren't Jeans?

I'm obviously female; so I'm asking this on behalf of someone else.

They're male, thin, in his 20's and hates jeans. What kind of pants that he could get that is good for school, going out etc, that don't look s****., but are still pretty casual?

So basically, something that looks nice, but is still comfortable and casual.

For school, if he got cargo type pants with pockets on the legs, it would make him look less thin. For dates, pleated khakis or dress pants would add some weight to his lower body!! : )
