I have a chronic stomach inflammation.

I'm trying to decide if I should get cat's claw root powder or slippery elm bark powder.

Which would be more effective in treating and healing the inflammation and mucous membrane of the stomach?

  1. I usually would choose slippery elm bark for stomach inflammation. I also like Gamma Oryzanol because it will help heal as well as relieve pain and inflammation in the esophagus, stomach and intestines.

Cat's Claw is a well known anti-inflammatory, but it is better known as an anti-microbial for organisms such as bacteria, viruses, and pesky parasites. It may cause irritation once in contact with organisms.

So, if there is any indication of infection or presence of parasites, you could use Cat's Claw, but I would use it together with any herb or component that is soothing and coats the lining of the stomach and intestines like slippery elm, DGL, Marshmallow and/or Gamma Oryzanol.

With the combination, you'd be killing off organisms that may be causing the inflammation in the gut as well as quelling inflammation in joints throughout the body and getting relief from the soothing mucilaginous herbs.

  2. Slippery elm and Quercetin with Bromelain would be my choice.
