Question:

Cat's underbelly fur loss.

So I have a torti tabby cat named Cookie. She's approx 4 years old now, and I've noticed her underbelly is losing fur. It looks much like she did when she went to get fixed from the vet, but that was years ago. I can't say exactly when it it started to disappear but it's sometime in the past few months. Shes indoor but is allowed in the backyard under watch. Anyone know what could be causing the fur loss and if I should be worried?

  1. Fur loss in cats is completely normal during the Summer months. During the colder months a cat builds up excess fur to keep warm. When the Summer rolls around, it's hot and the fur isnt needed anymore. You may see your car l*****g furiously at her fur - she's just getting rid of it (which can lead to the all powerful fur ball cough up!).

If it isnt warm where you are, it could also be a sign that your cat is depressed, or lacking the loving attention it needs. Try spending more time with her, stroking her and just being friendly. You may notice the fur coming back and not dissapearing.

If all this doesnt apply, always seek a professional. A vet will tell you everything you need to know if you're unsure.

    I hope I helped :)
