One more question. I am considering buying another kitten who does not have her first shots and is not spayed. She will be around 5 weeks what shots will she need to be up to date? Thanks!!!

  1. Even cats that go outside not only don't need boosters, they shouldn't get them!

There is no proof that boosters extend the life of the vaccine and may actually shorten the duration. They can also kill or cause major helth problems. I recommend the first set of vaccines for kittens and that is it.

  2. Some vets give a 3 yr rabies shot others a one year. You need to find out which one your cat had. They are usually due every year for a distemper shot booster. The kitten will need the works, shots and most importantly it will need to be wormed so your other cat does not catch them. It is usually a two dose medication.

  3. you cat will either need a yearly rabies shot or if your vet gave her a 3 year one then she is good for a while. I don't think the kitten needs shots until she is a few months old, check with your vet. Also ask whom ever you get the kitten from if she was outside and exposed to any other cats besides the mom and litter mates. If so she needs to be tested for a form of aids that has started to spread through cats. You want to do this before you expose her to your cat. If your cat goes outside you may want to have her checked too.
