Question:

Cat Throwing up oddly?

I had my cat for about a year or so on my own. And pretty much every 2nd or 3rd day she would throw up. Now she has lived with my mum for about a month and a half and when I went to visit her for the weekend she threw up again, and hasn't once since she has been there!? Is it just a habit?

  1. Sounds like she might have hair balls. Try giving her some hair ball meds.

  2. Hi!

Cat do throw up periodically but if the episodes are frequent and back to back, something is amiss. It might sound gross but you need to see what she threw up. Inspect it and see if you can make out anyhing, be it undigested whole food, bile, food with hair (hairball), and sometimes, even worms. If it is undigested food, most likely you cat is eating too fast, a gorger. Also, food allergy could be a symptom. If it is hairball, you need to give her some hairball remedy that you can purchase from pet stores to help alleviate her problem. If it has worms, she will need to be dewormed.

The best thing to do is to check with your vet and describe what you see in her vomit, the frequency as well as what kind of food you are feeding her.
