  1. make sure the mouse and the two cats do not know about each other or yes the cats will want to kill the mouse, its their instinct, and the mouse will get very stressed out by the cats and possibly die

  2. I think a lot depends on the cat.  I have had a few cats in my life and a couple were farm cats that had strong hunting instincts, but even than they were all different in their approachs.  One cat would actually rip the heads off the mice.  Yeah i know gross.  But my Goofy, who I still have at 11, would bring them to the door alive and unharmed.  She enjoyed playing with them.  the couple that didn't make it I am sure had a heart attack, or something similar becasue to watch her play, it was almost as if she were playing with a small kitten.

I would suggest one of those balls that the mouse could run around in, it would entertain the cats and still be protected.

  3. my cat just stared at them the first time and i kept the cage in my room and then i moved the cage someplace else and my cat just got bored. so do that and it kind of depends on your cat

  4. Well, if you allow your cat to "play" with the mouse, yes, they could kill it.

Just be sure to keep your mouse where your cats can not get it. And remember to keep the cage closed. =]
