Cat acting so weird.

Question

My older cat Peanut Butter is very territorial. When we first got our kitten several months ago, PB was so mean to it. She hissed and spit and growled at it. But after about 5 days she warmed up to the kitten and they played around together and were the bestest of buds.

Tuesday we had to take the kitten to the vet and because of some complications, he had to stay until Thursday morning. When we brought him back to the house, Peanut Butter was acting the same as when we first got him. She's hissing and growling, and won't play with him anymore. He's so confused, because when he left she was his buddy, but now she's being mean to him.

Can anyone tell me why she's acting like this?

I've had cats all my life...and they can be wierd man. Pb was the head of your house. The king pin cat. He liked this little guy...but they were seperated for a bit cause pb was sick. Pb comes home and says 'hey, that little guy is still here' I think you should give pb to warm up to the kitten again. you gotta give pb tons of attention.hope some of that helps....peace

It's normal and they will have to get used to each other again.  He picked up the smells from the vet's office and they're strange to PB.  Everything will be fine again before too long.

The kitten probably smells different after being at the vet. My cats still do this after about 10 years to each other. Things will be fine. Don't worry.

It could be the kitten smells strange and PB doesn't like it, and also, PB might have gotten used to being alone again and resents the kitten coming back. Just give PB a chance, and make sure you give her lots of attention when you give the kitten attention, that way she will associate the kitten with positive feelings.

since they were seperated again he probaly feels this is his home and he wants no otther cat in there.just give him a few more days he will harm up.good luck!

he probably smells like the vet try taking them together even tho 1 of them mite not need 2 go 2 the vet it will make the fighting stop =D

Memory of a cat is rather short.

Mine can't seem to remember she just came in from outdoors !

My 2 cats a litter mates so they have been together all their lives but on an occassion on had to stay overnight at the vet and when reunited the behavior you describe took place.....a day later theings returned to normal as they both were in their familiar environment---VERY IMPORTANT TO A CAT !
