My husband left his medicine on the counter when he got in the shower and the next thing I knew the cat was chewing it up! It was a 0.5 mg xanax. She only ate maybe half of it before I got it out of her mouth. Should I take her to the vet or will she just be all chills tonight? I know they make kittie prozac and xanax and all that but I don't know how similar it is to human medication. She is about 13 lbs. too if that helps. Thanks for your suggestions.

  1. why does an adult married woman have a young boy for an avatar?

your husband is what, 200 lbs? the cat is 13 pounds. he ate enough for a 100 lb person. that is like 7 times his dosage.

if your husband ate 7 pills, would you call a doc?

  2. A cats metabolism is much different than a humans. You need to go to the emergency vet take the medication bottle with you. They will contact animal poison control and start appropriate therapy for your cat. Go now!

  3. you need to call your vet NOW!!!

  4. hey, so this has nothing to do with this question. You asked another question about beating your wife and it has been deleted so i can't comment on it. By any chance was it you (the wife) who asked this question to see what people thought about your husband hitting you? If your husband is beating you, you need to seek help! Go to the police, go to a shelter. Anything, just take your baby and get out! I'll be praying for you!

  5. You can call poison control, they have an animal section that may help answer your question.

  6. expect the cat to be mellow for a few hours. so dim the lights and put on some music.

honestly i would call the vet just to make sure it's not extremely harmful

  7. Call up the vets see what they say about it, are they open now, if they are take your cat around.
