Cat fleas.. help!?

Yesterday i discvered my two babies had fleas!

Not exactly an infestation but definately more that i was happy with.

Both cats are de-fleaed monthly with Bob-martin spot on so was a bit surprised to find them.

So last night both cats were washed with flea shampoo and then i put the spot on treatment this morning.

I have sprinkled a shake and vac version of flea powder on my bedroom carpet and will vacumn it up when i get home.

But checked my little cat this morning and saw one of the little buggers running away to hide.

So obviously some of them have survived. Any tips on getting rid of them completely? Or should i wait for the spot on to kick in?

  1. Get your babies to the vet and get some revolution.  Revolution will kill the fleas, heart worm (yeah cats get heart worm), roundworm, hookworm, & earmites.  Then still do the same thing with your carpets (in the whole house) and buy a spray to use on your bed and any other soft surface. Don't forget to empty your vacumn outside.  When you bathe the cats the fleas just hop up onto the cat's head so that you can't get them. There sneaky little buggers.  Good Luck!

  2. Well they will have Bob-Martins is c**p you should be useing FRONTLINE. It last for 3 months. You will have to get it from the RSPCA or Vets.

  3. tea tree is grat but seriously diluted!, combing when wet and spray is an instant killer while ur waitinf for the spot towork, try a collar too xx

  4. Like everyone else said.  Sounds like that Bob-martin stuff is garbage.  I like Frontline myself.  Frontline has to be applied EVERY MONTH (not the every 3 months someone suggested) but it works.

  5. front line from the vets is the best stuff to use.it kills the fleas where as the bob martin stuff doesn't.it kills the larve thus breaking the cycle but the adult fleas are still alive.bob martin does do a spray that kills them and you can use it with spot on but if you want totally rid of them and protection against tics and other little critters get frontline.

  6. Oh, its that time of year again. The only real way to stop fleas, is with Front line, which is only available from the vets. Its really expensive, but very effective. You can also get Front line sprays for carpets and pet bedding too.

Sadly my old p***y cat (Wiskey) died a few years ago, but she had lots of problems with fleas. Living rurally, Hedgehogs in the garden were part of the problem, as she liked to lay where they had been.

EDIT. Can you believe, the word pu$$y has been blocked. How sad is that?

  7. Hi, one of the best flea treatments worldwide is Frontline. You can buy it over the counter from any vets, 3 months supply is around £22. With this product you need to make sure to apply it to the cats skin only, one application will continue to work for a month it is fantastic.I first used this on my cat last year when he was 12 weeks old and since then he has not had a single flea on him. All vets will recommend this product, flea products from pet shops are a waste of time.Have a look on the "Frontline" web page to find out more about this product. I decided to try it after reading so many great reviews on this product on here.

    Best Wishes.

  8. Hi

Fleas can get immune to the same product, most flea products only kill the adults not the eggs. you will need to deflea several times over a week or if not seek a vet they have better products.

  9. Use frontline or stronghold both are very good

  10. Pet shop products are not really effective. Everyone else says frontline - I've changed to Advantage and prefer it - it spreads through the oil on the skin's surface and doesn't enter the animal at all. You spot on before bed time and that's it. As the skin cells are shed naturally by the cats it then gets to work and kills the fleas in house as well. Visit your vet to get some.

  11. Get rid of the cats!

  12. you have done everything right and need to wait for the spot on to work. My vet told me some cats are prone to them and get them back, this stems from there Mother.
