i work in a place that has a cat and 3 kittens. the cat food is left out in bowls for them and attracts a LOT of flies. i can't only serve them at certain times during the day because i'm not always around, and i leave at night. does anyone have any ideas how i can make the flies disappear??

  1. My house has no flies because i keep it clean. maybe its because its moist food versus dry food. Keep the area where the cats eat clean.

  2. try different cat food. or maybe that's the flies best food source

  3. Leaving them dry cat food at night might help. This is a crazy idea but it might work, try a electronic fly zapper. It attracts flies to it.

  4. Its only wet food in my experience that attracts flies. maybe switch to dry and you will see a big difference in the amount of flies. also, do you constantly have a window/door open? if so, the flies can smell this food, and will automatically come in to get food.

  6. I have just bought an Auto dish, but am having trouble getting my cat to use it.  There is a sensor on the front so when the cat approaches, the lid opens and when the cat moves away, it shuts again.  The first time she tried to use it, she kept shifting around and the lid kept falling on her head.  I wish I had videoed it as it was so funny.  I am having to keep the lid up permanently at the moment until she gets used to it!

I bought mine very cheaply (and not from the seller in the link).  I have linked just to show you what the bowl is like.

Suspect the others suggestions of dry food will be better!
