Hello! One of my cats has a leaking eye. It seems to get worse when he goes outside. It started a couple days ago and its like leaking this mucus stuff and sometimes he can't open it. It seems like pink eye or something. Anybody know what this could be? What can I do to help him?

  1. To the vet :)  They can give you something for it, and can tell you what exactly it is.  Everyone is right, too, about the dangers of leaving this untreated.  I adopted two rescue cats who both have a chronic upper respiratory infection (it effects a lot of cats, actually) and it will make their eyes weepy.  One of them only has one eye because his infection was so bad it destroyed one of his eyes.  Happily, he was rescued and is doing great now.  They get a daily immune supplement, L-lysine, which keeps their eyes clear.  This is something you can discuss with a vet.

  2. sounds like conjunctivitis to me (pink eye) get kitty to the vet asap so that he doesn't lose an eye, my kitty that i adopted had that happen to him. Good Luck!

  3. eye infection

  4. my cat had something similar, the vet said it was a ripped tear duct. she said it would make him tear and have mucus, but surgery was not worth it. i hope it helps

  5. It may be an injury or an infection.  But any situation involving the eye like that needs vet care.  The cat could lose vision if it is not treated properly.
