Question:

Cat has problem l*****g up her canned food from bowl?

not really that serious but I think she always have problems l*****g the canned food I put in a small bowl, no matter how deep that bowl is (I did changed a few to try), she still have to l**k a few times before she got that food into her mouth. She can eat that food easily if I put it onto my hand, but i won't want her to get too used to it in case she won't eat from bowl next time. Sometimes I put a bit of warm plain water, mixed it with the canned food in the bowl, she would usually licked up the water (till the food becomes dry and then tried l*****g up the food). Anyone faced this problem before? Or are there actually some good cat utensils to get from outside? Thanks!

  1. try putting the food on a flat plate.

  2. Because the bowl is curved . they have a hard time getting to the food on the sides. Have special plates for her food. You can use those disposable dessert plates and then just throw them away. Or if you are pinching pennies like I am , you can buy mismatched plates at the salvation Army cheap. That way I know they are her plates and don't use them for company . (I am a terrible dishwasher when I don't have my glasses on LOL )

  3. Try the flat dish.  If still has a problem I would have the vet check her mouth really well.  Even if her teeth and gums looK ok to you, there could be something not so nice growing where it should not be.  This could be affecting her jaw or the back of her tongue area.

Do not mean to upset you, But it would be better to get it checked now and if it is something ugly, perhaps it can be fixed now before it can't later.

I hope it is nothing but a silly kitty being cute  :)

  4. lol-- my cat does the same thing! try putting is on a flat plate

  5. wow i thought that only happened too my cat..... i was so worryed about his teeth .... we had him 18 years the vet says his teeth are ok.... but i was still thinking it was his teeth... now i know other people have the same problem thanks for bringing this up ...i try not too chop his food too fine it seems he can get it better if i dont ....i was thinking maybe i should get him a higher bowl ...like the ones on the stand... that may help but im not sure..... someone said a flat plate ill try that also thanks you all.....

  6. I have a cat who has this problem and he also has had severe dental problems.  A trip to your vet would be a good idea.

    Good Luck!

  7. Apart from experimenting with different dishes and plates, the only other thing I can recommend is to make sure that the food is cut up into smaller pieces will make it easier for her to l**k up.

Maybe you could also try a different brand of food with smaller pieces?

  8. I use a foam flat paper plate, works great.
