Cat infestation!?

Recently it seems my back garden has become home to a group/pride/flange etc of cats. I was wondering what is the most humane way to catch and dispose of them?

  1. The way that I keep out the many strays in my neighborhood is that I clean out my hair brush and spread my hair in the garden. I also do the same when I brush my dog. It has so far worked best for me.  The human society or the pound won't come and get them where I live. They also sell live traps at the Tractor Supply store you trap them then the pound will take them. I never tried I'm too afraid to trap a skunk or racoon or some other wild critter. Good luck !

  2. If you harm them, then shame on you..

Cats are roamers and you won't stop them...

  3. Cat Aid, Cat Protection groups will come trap them for you.

They usually ask if they have them spayed will you allow them back into your garden as this will stop another family of feral cats moving in.

I agreed to this and have four living out my back years. They don't bother me to be honest.

Another option is to call the SPCA.

They will trap them but they euthanize them. There is a charge for each cat whereas the others are a free service.

Edit: I wouldn't waste money on repellents. I never found any of them to work. I even have a dog and they wouldn't budge. They beat my dog up if he annoys them. lol

  4. Contact Cats Protection who should set humane traps and remove them assuming they're strays.

  5. You can buy cat repellent in garden centres and think you can buy something that makes a noise they don't like. Please don't harm them as they might belong people.

  6. Go to the zoo and ask for some Lion dung. Spread around you garden and I've been told this will make your cat problem disappear.

  7. Irresponsible people refuse to get their cats (and dogs) spayed or neutered to prevent overpopulation and unwanted litters.  Call your local Animal Control and they will loan you traps to catch them.  Most or all of the cats will unfortunately be euthanized.

  8. Well, you shouldn't be disposing of cats!  Call your local animal shelter and see if they can come out and pick them up.  Good luck!

  9. Have a cat of your own.   Cats are territorial.    They won't cross over into anothers territory.

  10. Get yourself a water pistol/gun it is used to stop unwanted behaviour in cats as they do not like getting wet or the sound of the water leaving the pistol.

After a few drenching's they should get the message.

My two cats certainly don't like it.
