I think it's trying to poo, but it's hard to tell exactly. I've put him in his own room with the fresh litter, water, and food and it looks like he passed a small soft stool and urinated a little bit. Not sure what to do for him, he's 4 years old. No vomiting.

  1. Take the cat to the doctor/vet now.

  2. Poor thing-sounds like he has a urinary tract infection. He needs to go to the vet ASAP.

  3. It does sound like a urinary tract infection. My first cat died of this, it's best to get it to the vet ASAP.  Especially if he's been trying to go when you're around, it means he's trying to tell you something is wrong.

  4. He could be trying to pee.  We just took our male cat into the vet yesterday--just in time.  He has a blockage in his kidney.  Over the last few weeks he's been irritable.  This last week he's been tender on his tummy and he stopped eating.

I suggest that you take your cat to the vet ASAP just to be sure.  If you choose not to then, watch for the warning signs:

    irritable

    not eating/drinking

    trying to go to washroom

    diarrhea

    disappears/won't go outside

    tired

If your cat has a blockage it will die. It sound like it does.

  5. cat constipated..vets now

  6. How often does your cat try to go? Does he have a swollen abdomen?

If he tries to go very often and nothing comes out and if his abdomen is swollen, your cat may have a urinary blockage. This is not uncommon in neutered male cats. If your cat has a urinary blockage, he will die if you do not get medical attention. I had to rush one of my cats to the emergency room when he had a blockage. The vet will put a catheter in his urethra to unblock him. The blockage is caused by crystals that form in their urethra. My cat was put on a special diet for urinary tract health, but he developed the blockage again about a week later. We took him to another vet who unblocked him again and put him on Zyloprim, a medication for humans that destroys these crystals. It has been about a year now and he's doing great!

The best advice I can give you is to see your vet ASAP! Good luck!

  7. He most likely has a bladder blockage.Male cats get crystals in their bladder and it will cause a blockage,as their urethral opening is too narrow to allow the crystals to pass. The cat will not be able to urinate and will die from a ruptured bladder or uremic poisoning. You have to get the cat to an Emergency Vet NOW or it will die,and it will be a very painful death. He will need to be catheterized to drain the bladder and will need a special diet and probably antibiotics and antispasmodics.Hurry, you don't have much time!

  8. sometimes it can be the litter if you had just switched litter types but it might be a tract infection

  9. Inside male cats have a tendency to get blocked and it could be serious if he can't urinate.
