i asked a question earlier about how to help her with her dehydration, but i'm just wondering if you can help ease my mind as to what is wrong with her...

she is going to the vet asap but here are her symptoms:

not eating/drinking, lethargic, not responsive, dehydrated, is hiding. this happened very suddenly (three hours ago) and shes an indoor cat, we have other cats that are not sick. please..just by this info and your experiences do you think it could be upper respiratory? something a vet can fix with fluids? or something that will kill her soon..?

  1. How old is your cat?? If she's an older cat, this could be kidney failure which is a common thing that older cats get....the vet may try to encourage you to have her treated, but honestly the treatment usually doesn't work; is she losing weight? Since she's dehydrated, the vet may try to hydrate her with fluid given under the skin; which is ok, but if the root of her problem is kidney failure, the kindest thing for her is to put her down....its a hard thing to do, but you don't want her to suffer.

  2. I really wish I could help you. Not responsive you say and that makes things sound very serious. It does sound life threatening since it happened so fast. The only thing i can tell you to try tempting her with anything she will eat. Check her gums for yellowing which is a sign of liver disease which is life threatening but totally reversible if treated

    Best of luck

  3. maybe she ate a poisoned mouse

  4. it could be stomache cancer my dog had the same problem is she throwing up if so get her to the vet asap dont wait cuz we did and she didnt make it

  5. If your favorite relative was acting this way what would you do? Do the same for your beloved pet.

  6. This does sound very serious. You could try a google search to see what it says. I think it may be cat herpes which is like a virus. Go to the vet ASAP! They will diagnosis you cat better than any of us can. They will probably give you medicine too.

  7. Dont wait- take her to the emergency vet. Dont forget your checkbook
