Cat is really messed up right now?

I think this cat that hangs out in my yard all the time is my neighbor's cat, but i'm not sure since i don't know my neighbors, but this cat basically lives at my house. Within the past week she's gotten two huge sores above each eye and along the front of her neck. She keeps scratching them so all three sores get worse every day. I know she needs to go to the vet, but my dad refuses to pay a vet bill since it's not our cat. I never see my neighbors in their yard and they never come take their cat home or feed her or anything so I have to feed the cat. I'm really confused because I care about the welfare of the cat, but my dad won't pay a vet bill when the cat doesn't belong to us, it belongs to my neighbors. This cat is really fucked up right now and needs medical care.

  1. Notify animal control and allow them to address the issue. Express your concern of the pet needing medical attention. Be careful not to accuse your neighbors and especially if you don't know if it is their cat. By the way, have you asked them if this is their cat? If it is then tell them you are concerned and have noticed a problem. Maybe they already know about it.

Chances are it is a stray male getting into fights. However if he is friendly and gets medical attention than usually animal control turns him over to the local shelter for adoption once he is better and neutered.

  2. Not sure if you are in the uk? Have a chat to cats protection league as they will sometimes help with vet care costs. Is it for sure your neighbours cat or is it a stray?? It it's not theirs call cat protection for help. The pdsa and rspca are also very helpful, the bluecross sometimes help to.

  3. call you local humane society and they will try to trap and give medical care to the cat. here is a link to their website: http://www.hsus.org/

  4. Leave a note on your neighbor's door asking if she's their cat.  If not seems to me you have a responsibility to take care of cat who lives in your yard and you feed.  And might be mange which is contagious.  If these arguments don't help, look online in your city for cat rescue groups.  Hope she gets better and you can convince dad to help or find someone who will

  5. Hi fsu,  Sorry to hear of your situation.   The poor cat, I would say that she is probably a stray cat.  If anyone owned her she wouldn't be hanging out at your house looking for help and food.  Please call the rescue center in your city.  It's usually the spca or some other local organization.  Soon....  Thank you for feeding her at least.

  6. It means they are a boy and boy. They are playing, but playing with cat's are fighting so i would just sit outside and watch your cat and if you see the cat just watch them. But if they wonder off then you should take you cat inside

  7. you should ask all of your neighbors if the cat belongs to them. someone [possibly a neighbor] could have just dumped them for you to take care of or something like that. ask if your dad will let you keep the cat. and try doing some research on line on how you can help her sores. shes probably getting them from another cat, and they could have been fighting for territory or something similar.

  8. go ahead and call your local shelter, explain the situation, ask if they can come and get the cat or if you can bring it in without them charging you. they will check the cat out, if healthy, they will get it all of her shots, "fix" her, and find her a new home. not everyone that adopts wants a puppy or kitten, some of us want an older pet that has lived life like us.
