Some cats do continue to do this and it can be frustrating, but she is using her box and that's good!  Go to a building supply store and buy a sheet of heavy plastic (heavy like material for a shower wall) and put it between the box and the wall...easy to clean and the wall will not be damaged!

Sometimes litterboxes aren't TALL enough.  I had that same problem until I got a 60 qt Rubbermaid "container".  I leave the lid off, and put about 3-4 inches of litter in the bottom.  Now, I don't have the "over the top" problem anymore!

I got my container at Walmart, but I'm sure they have them other places.  Mine is clear, so I can see when my cats have peed against the sides........This makes a great litterbox, and is easy to clean, since it's so deep and wide.
