  1. It depends....

I have a cat who is extremely verbal. She'll look up at me and start singing. Its beautiful (and sort of hilarious).

There are also cases in which cats will be in severe pain and start crying out. Maybe call the vet?  One phone call just to make sure can't hurt.

  2. it can mean different things he might be  hungry, wanting to play ,warningyou(maybe), or in pain.

  3. Learn to really pay attention to what your cat is doing at the time when he meows,he will usually give you some sign of what he is trying to say. If he is in the kitchen meowing, it usually means he is hungry. If he is acting weird, it might mean he is sick or frightened about something. If he rubs up against you, it might mean he wants you to pet him, and if he gets in your face it means he wants your undivided attention!

  4. Yes. Cats do meow or purr if they are in pain. And yes they will look at you and meow if they want something to eat. He/She is talking to you. Maybe it's just a casual convo meow. lol. Chances are if he/she is meowing outloud to nothing he/she is just talking to himself aloud. If He/She meows to your prescence, they want something.

  5. No. Some cats are very vocal. They meow to communicate with us. It could be they are hungry, feel playful, feel pain, want to just have a little chat with you, want us to clean the litter box. They may just be bitching at us for no reason.
