Question:

Cat not going to the bathroom?

I just moved into a house w/ another cat (male). My room is under construction and I am living on the couch until it is ready. The girl who used to live in my room let her cat pee and p**p all over. Nonetheless, the odor is embedded in the carpet and it is "UNDER CONSTRUCTION!" Since I am in the living room, I put her food and water by the couch. I also put her litter box across the room, but it is still pretty close. She is eating and drinking, but has not used the litter box. What do I do? Do I call a vet? The male cat and her seem to get along. Yet, he likes to lay in her bed(s) and play w/ her toys. I understand this is a territory thing (to get his scent on things that her scent is on).

She is also on a special diet for bladder crystals... (c/d) could they be growing back? She was on antibiotics and now is on that special diet food to keep them from forming. Could this be a cause of her not using the bathroom?

  1. I just had a similar problem not even a week ago. My cat doesn't have the same blatter issues but he couldn't go to the bathroom and was throwing up. I took him to the vet and they gave me some pills to give him and it fixed it. I would definitley suggest calling the vet especially since the cat was on other medication before. Even if you can't take her in you can at least explain to them over the phone, its worth a try and its better than doing nothing. Good luck I hope she feels better!
