There's a cat outside my house and it keeps meowing really loudly. It's making me really really sad. I dunno what to do for it. I cant call the humane society or what ever you call because I don't like them. And I cant go outside and get it because it might have rabies or something! What am I supposed to do?

  1. how about just call it, it will probably come to you...I doubt it has rabies

  2. DONT feed it unless you want it to keep coming back. If you have a empty squirt bottle or spray bottle, fill it with water and shoot it with it. That should scare it away. Its prob in heat and it prob belongs to someone. Just spray it with some water.

  3. its not a good idea cuz  he/she might run away

  4. does it look famillar it probably doesnt have rabies unless u live in the country

  5. find a male cat for it it in heat thats why its crying its calling a male

  6. I had the same issue  a couple of months ago.... The cat is most likely really hungry and thats why it meows so much. Its really sad I know, well my roomate started feeding the cat and the meowing stopped but now the cat wont leave. My advice is if you want the meowing to stop, feed the cat at a nice distance from your door or in an alley or something or IT WILL NEVER LEAVE...

  7. Call like animal control or something.

  8. the cat wants to come in! Call animal control, find the phone number online or in the phone book!

  9. The cat may be in heat.  Call a homeless shelter (different from an SPCA).  Many are no-kill and will set a humane trap.  Because this cat is feral, they will usually take the cat and spay or neuter it and return it to it's colony, or if it's able to be transitioned into a housecat, they will find an appropriate home.

The Humane Society is a hard working, animal rights safe haven for animals.  They do not just kill an animal to kill it.  They do everything possible to find appropriate homes if possible.  If the cat is not adoptable because of disease or health, it will do the humane thing and put it to sleep to keep it from suffering.  If the animal is healthy, and they cannot find an appropriate owner, they will contact other rescue groups or no-kill shelters to try to take the animal.

The main thing is to make sure the cat is spayed/neutered.  This is the reason it should be - because there are so many strays, and other unwanted animals because of people that did not take proper care of their pets.  Many pets are being left in houses or abandoned that are being foreclosed because the families are not able to take the pets with them.  The SPCA will take these animals and at least give them a decent shot at a better life.

  10. Have you tried feeding it?

If the cat is close enough to eat, you can usually tell if it's feral or not.

It's a shame you're not prepared to call anyone as it could be in pain.

Please let us know how you go...
