  1. How long have you been taking the medicine?  Sometimes it takes awhile for it to take effect.  If you have questons, which you do, call your doctor.

  2. It's possible that you have an allergy as well as what others have said.  Try taking some Benadryl.

  3. Your doctor did the right thing by prescribing antibiotics for you. I don't know if you heard it before but there is a disease called the "Cat Scratch Disease". It is an infectious disease caused by a bacterium called Bartonella clarridgeiae. The reservoir of this bacterium is in domestic cats and usually it transmits to humans following a scratch by the cat.

It is a gram negative bacteria and usually treatable by any antibiotics. Do not worry about your swelling. If you have been taking your antibiotics, you would see improvements within a few days. The reason for the antibiotics is that although you do not have any symptoms of an infection, it is right to use the antibiotics as a preventive measure before the symptoms appear. The symptoms would appear usually in a week or so after the scratch or even after a longer period. So there is no way of telling at what point the symptoms will appear.

Thus, it is only right to be treated right away if you have some form of deep scratch from a cat. I hope i have helped you in some way.

  4. It probably is a small infection and will go down very quickly. My theory as to the reason cat scratches swell is because their claws are used to bury p**p; which obviously contains a lot of germs haha, and if the cat is an outdoor cat claws are used to help catch and kill small animals outside that may have infections and/or diseases that are unharmful to the cat, but the germs that may be on the claws are harmful to humans. All in all the germs from the cat's claws are caught inside your skin when you were scratched and gave you a simple infection that should clear up soon !

    Hope I helped!

  5. Soak your hand in very warm water and Epsom's salts. This will soften the scabs. Gently remove the scabs and apply a antibiotic cream. Put a light band-aid on the sores.  Cats claws are dirty and you have a infection. Putting a antibiotic on the sores is more direct that internal ones.  Take the pills but attend to the sores. Do this until the scratches are no longer red.

  6. you are fine it is because the air getting in your skin from the scratch but it could of gotten infected so I think you will be fine if it gets worst then tell your doctor or see a doctor and tell them what happened.Hope I helped.

  7. Put some aloe vera on it and take anti-inflammatories (like Motrin).  If it gets worse or doesn't respond after a few days, go back to the doc.

  8. it takes about 48 hours to see efects of antibiotics. try ibuprofen for the swelling and contact your doc if you dont see any improvement within two days of taking the meds. yes it is an infection. and no way is it air in your skin. if you start to see streaks from the site going up your arm contact  the doctor because the infection could be in your bloodstream and would spread very rapidly to your heart and other vital organs. this is not to be taken lightly, however if you follow instructions and take all of your medication you should be fine.

  9. infection, yes. simple, no.

cats claws get into everything. then it all goes into you.

it will heal, just tell doc if it gets worse. could take a week for antibiotics to do any good.
