and to make matters worse, my hubbys on night watch at his work tonight meaning he won't be off work until 8am tomorrow.

is there anything i can do to help my pup?

i've been holding a cool rag on it but it doesn't seem to be helping.

  1. Wounds: A scratch on the eyeball itself, regardless of cause, should have a vets care. The only first aid for such injuries is to apply a commercial eye wash or mineral oil to the eye to soothe it. Do not touch the eye, do not wash it out with water. Cat claws have some bacteria, so look for discharge and colour change in the discharge. A Vet will look at the eye and give you a tube of opthamaltic ointment or a tetracycline ointment. Buy a human ointment or artificial tears or a dry eye solution at the pharmacy and apply it until you can go to a Vet.

Note to Brit Spaniel: When a leather couch is more important than a living creature, you should not own an animal, buy a stuffed  cat toy instead! Less wear and tear on the stuff you buy which is obviously more important.

  2. Put cold compresses on until you can take him to the vet.  Isn't there a vet on the base?  Then see about getting your own id that will get you onto the base w/o your husband.  I had that when my husband was in the Navy  Good luck

  3. tell your dog to scratch her back...as in revenge...not your cats back

  4. peroxide?

  5. That depends on what part of his eye is scratched and how bad the scratch is. Either way, he NEEDS to go to a vet. It's possible that a bad scratch can cause him to eventually go blind. Several factors affect this possibility, including bacteria from the scratch embedded in the cornea. He may also eventually develop a cataract.

If I were you, I'd take some cash, leave the base, got to the vet, and stay in a hotel until your husband can get you back in. You might even want to talk to his CO. If the guy isn't an ***, he will be able to get you back on base.

  6. Well my only advice would be a vet! My dog had the same thing happen and the vet said it can cause an ulcer on the eye. We had drops and antibiotics cause cats nails can have major germs from the litter box. Good luck!

  7. call the vet and ask them if there is anything you can do, or best yet, find someone there that can take your cat to the vet for you that would be able to get back on.

  8. kill the cat

  9. Sue it

  10. why don't you call a local vet and ask what they recommend. you should at least clean the cut if it's open and bleeding, etc. Get your cat de-clawed!

  11. Take him to the vet ASAP !

You might want to consider getting your cat's front claws declawed. I know it sounds cruel; but it's a way to protect your house from damage and your puppy. My friend's 2 cats are front pawed declawed and it keeps her standard poodle safe; and for her sake, her leather sofa !

  12. well second lock the cat in its cage with food and water if it did it once it prbably thinks its okay..... the dogs eye if its red try washing i wiht a little cold water..... make sure it does not leak any liquis

  13. go to a vet that coud cure it or cut of the claw of cat

  14. Call a vet and explain your situation.  Ask them if there is anything you could do for him to make him more comfortable until you can bring him in.

  15. He'll be fine. My cat and dog fight all the time. You're doing the best you can and that's all you can do.

  16. cats 1 dogs 0

  17. I would call your vet and find out if it is an emergency or if it can wait until tomorrow morning.

  18. The vet will need to examine it to see if the corona has been damaged.  Contact the vet in the meantime to see what you should do.

  19. Does his eye look swollen or red? if so just maybe put a damp flannel on his eye or somthing, hopefully he'll be fine =]

  20. punish it

  21. well, there's nothing you can do really except wait

  22. even if u cant get to a vet call one look it up on information (411) nd get the vets number...call the vet and ask them if there is anything u can do to help ur pup...good luck

  23. call the vet and see if they can tell you what to do until you can get to the vet.  you should at least rinse his eye out by pouring room temp water so that it run through the eye and then over the cut and back out the eye.  you should do it so the water strarts on the nose side of the eye and exits cheek side.  he will want to wiggle so i suggest wrapping him in a towel and holding him on his side between your legs.  this is easier if you are on the floor. lay an extra towel to catch the water you pour to rinse the eye.  be sure to talk to him in a calming voice while doing this, it will help to reduce his anxiety.  good luck.

  24. Hopefully he won't be blinded. If he is bleeding cold compressure sould help. Put the cat away from the pup. Prehaps outside or in a basment. So not harm either animal. Soothe the animal with reassuring voices and make sure to be VERY gentle with any creature's eye. Try phoning the local vet (if possible) and ask if they know anything you can put on it or do to stop pain.

    Hope it helps.

  25. What kind of base doesn't allow the wives on w/o the husbands, when they LIVE on base? That's screwed up. (coming from a military wife!)

Your base doesn't have it's own vet, either? Strange.

Anyways, the pup needs to be seen by a vet to determine the severity of the scratch, and to be put on eye medication to prevent infection.
