We have 3 cats (2 boys & a girl), and we are going to be cat-sitting my friend's cat (girl) for a month or so.

Last time we took care of this cat, she was a big problem. The other cats fought with her, she hid all the time, and she was constantly pooping & peeing around the house and never used the litter box.

So this is my question:

How can we make sure that this cat doesn't act like this again? (Especially with the litter box problem)

  1. I would keep her at her own house if you can do that. If she is having issues with coming to your house, that would be the best answer. I cat sit all of the time and I see that they are more comfortable with their own surroundings.  Especially if you have other cats who have not been acclimated to her.

  2. give her a room of her own set up one room with her litter box, food, water toys scratch post etc and she can hang out in there make sure to go in there a lot and give her attention etc.

  3. Pick a room in the house that you don't use much and make that HER room. Put her litter-box, food, toys, and whatever else she has. Make sure when you do go in the room you shut the door! You don't want her getting out and not using her litter-box. Also do NOT let the other cats in with her, it will just make her scared again and you'll go through the same thing as last time! GOOD LUCK! Hope this helps!

  4. Cats don't do well with change.  I agree either put her in her own room with a litter box, food, water and some stuff to scratch on and play with or keep her at her own house.  If you keep her at her house, just go over once a day and play and feed her, scoop the box etc.

  5. Id keep her in a closed in location and buy a puppy fence (can be bought at any Wal-mart for less than $20)

  6. You can't bring a strange cat into your home and expect everyone to be happy - it simply will not work.  Your friend's cat must be kept in its own room with everything it needs - litter trays, food/water, toys and beds with something belonging to its owner in them - like an old jumper.
