Hi, my cat started throwing up about 36 hrs ago and was very lethargic. I took her to the vet about 12 hrs ago and they said she had some type of viral infection because her white blood count was high. The doc put her on antibiotics and gave her fluids. She is fully vaccinated and only about a year and a half old. She will not eat or drink and is very tired and she just tried to go to the bathroom and instead of f***s, there was this clear gel like substance that came out. The doc told me to come back in a week if she wasn't better, but I am really worried because she is so weak. Does anyone have ANY ideas as to what this could be???? Thanks so much!!!!!

  1. I'm not a vet, but those symptoms are VERY close to the ones my cat has very often.

She gets constipated very easily and will not eat or drink at all (which cause the lethargy in her, because she has no fluids.)

Is your cats coat less glossy than usual? That is another sign of dehydration.

Ask the vet whether it could be constipation (does your cat have TROUBLE going to the bathroom? Is she making a visible effort to try and pass something?)

If this IS the case, ask the vet for some simple human laxatives, which you can give to her twice a day to help ease her evacuation of f***s.

It could be the case that the poo is very compacted inside her (if it spends too much time inside the cat, it can get very hard and very difficult to pass) so the vet may have to manually evacuate or give her an e***a.

Mention in passing to the vet that you think she may be constipated and see what s/he says.
