Question:

Cat vomits although not sick?

My cat has started vomiting recently after she got spayed. She is not sick at all, plays, purrs and has a huge appetite. I thought it might be a hairball, but no hair is coming out. They only drink water, but sometimes i give her and her 4 month old baby a little bit of milk.

Can it maybe be the milk??

  1. Momma cats do not need nor require milk and it can make their stomach VERY upset...please stop giving the milk to the momma and baby.  Momma will take care of the kitten.

Just because a cat purrs, doesn't mean they are content.  One study determined that purring involves activation of nerves within the voice box. These nerve signals cause vibration of the vocal cords while the diaphragm serves as a piston pump, pushing air in and out of the vibrating cords, thus creating a musical hum. Veterinarian Neils C. Pederson, author of Feline Husbandry, believes that purring is initiated from within the central nervous system and is a voluntary act. In other words, cats purr only when they want to.

Most experienced "cat wranglers" now know that cats don't purr only when they are content and happy. They also purr during tense or traumatic moments. When suddenly and violently injured, even at moments near death, a cat will often purr. I've often likened this to saying, "Please don't hurt me any more. I'll be good,"

  2. My cat started doing this when we got a second cat. Our vet said it's because she's overeating so she can get more food than the new cat.

  3. a cat should never be given cows milk its not good for it and does make it feel ill or cause vomiting! You can only give it pets milk out of a can or evaporated milk! If that doesn't stop after that you may want to take it to the vet for an allergy check!

  4. Could be hairballs... feed some Vaseline

could be a sensitve stomic ... feed yougert (NOT milk) or go to the

health food store and buy acidophius (it's the natural culture that is in the intestines.)

You should not feed the cat milk they are lactose intolerant and it will cause diaherra.

  5. Cats don't have lactase to process milk, so no milk for cats. Also, if cats aren't used to new food, they may vomit as well. Therefore, when you want to introduce your cat to new food (e.g., a new brand of cat food), mix a bit of the new food with the food that your cat is used to eating.

  6. Yep it could be the milk, cats are not tolerant of milk unless it is lactose free which you can pick up from your local pet shop.

  7. Could be several things or just one. Could be the milk, or if you just changed her food, or you need to put her on sensitive stomach cat food (Science Diet) is good. Could be hairballs that hasn't come up yet. The Dr. can give you a ointment type of medicine you put on her paws that she will l**k it off. It will help the hairballs come up.

  8. Are you giving her any medication since she got spayed? If so that might be it.

If not then she might be allergic to the milk.

  9. I guess it could be the milk, but vomiting to be seems like a sign to get medical attention. Even tho she doesn't seem sick she could be fighting off some type of infection.

  10. I'd vomit after getting spayed.

    I think that's a pretty normal reaction.

Oh oh oh.  Ouch.  Cats are not supposed to drink any milk other than their own mother's.

Unfortunately they like milk and a lot of people give milks to cats, but it's really bad, especially for the kitten.

Just google it.  No milk for cats.

  11. all the time---- hair balls,it's not the milk, just stop with the milk for a while  and see what happens

  12. My cats were vomiting when they were on too rich a food.  Now I buy an indoor cat formulation for senstive stomachs, they're all fine now.
