Question:

Cat5/ Cat6 wire?

Why are new home constructions or Renovation are said to be better going with the Cat5/ Cat6 wire, rather than the old telephone wire. I know that they do not increase the internet connection speed, so what is the primary reason for doing so.

Does cat5/ cat6 wire originate from a modem.

Am I right that the Cat5/Cat6 wire does not even enter the telephone box that is sitting outside the house.

  1. With this type of setup you are using the cat wire to connect to other computers. One connected to the internet can then be accessed from any room in the house. Cat wire is for Networking. You could also use WiFi to do the same thing without wires.

  2. Category 5 and 6 are just high grade communications wire. Basically it is just better wire. They connect the same way the older telephone wires did and to the same Demark (the telephone box outside).
