Catalan Dragons sign Leon Pryce to a three-year deal – Rugby League News

The Perpignan based French professional Rugby League Football Club, Catalan Dragons, have announced the signing of the star rugby league utility back player, Leon Pryce, to strengthen their
squad for the upcoming seasons. Officials at the club have confirmed the signing of the Pryce on a long-term deal from the professional Rugby League Club, St Helens, in a statement released on their website on Tuesday, August 23.  
Pryce has inked a three-year deal with the Dragons, which will keep him at the Dragons until the end of the 2014 Super League season. Pryce becomes the first English international player signed
by the Dragons in their history.
Catalan Dragons head coach, Trent Robinson, has expressed his delight on securing the services of the English international backs player for the club. He added that it was part of the club’s
plan to recruit an English international match-winning player. He added, “Leon definitely fits these criteria and we are looking forward to his contribution to the progression of rugby league at the Dragons.”
Catalan Dragons Manager, Bernard Guasch, has expressed his excitement on the signing of the Pryce to strengthen their squad. He termed Pryce signing as one of the important signing made in
the history of the club. He added, “This is one of our biggest recruits in six years and is a great honour for the club. The signing is recognition that six years of hard work have gained us the trust of major players like Leon Pryce.”
The 29-year-old Pryce is an English professional Rugby League player. He started his professional Rugby League career, with the Bradford Bulls in 1998. He has made 190 appearances for Bulls,
in both Super League and Challenge Cup competition and has scored 340 points.
The Yorkshire born Pryce helped the Bulls to win three Super League and two Challenge Cup titles respectively. At the start of the 2006 season, he joined the St Helens, where he helped the
club to win three consecutive Challenge Cup titles and a Super League title.
During his six years stay at the Saints, Pryce so far has made 159 appearances and has scored 292 points.
Pryce made his full English international debut for England’s national Rugby League side against the France in 1999.  He played seven international games for the England and has three international
tries to his name.   Between 2001 and 2007, he has also represented the Great Britain team on 17 occasions and has scored five tries for them.
Additionally, Pryce was also named in the 2008 Super League’s dream team and helped the St Helens to win the World Club Challenge trophy.
