Catalan Dragons sign two-year extension with the experienced Greg Mounis and Thomas Bosc
Perpignan based French Rugby League Football Club, Catalan Dragons, have extended the contract of their duo of Greg Mounis and Thomas Bosc. Utility forward Greg Mounis replaced utility back Thomas Bosc as captain after repetitive injuries sidelined the player
from participating in any more games.
Officials at the club have confirmed the extension in the contract of the players in a statement released on their website on Wednesday, August 3.
Dragons head coach, Trent Robinson, has expressed his satisfaction on retaining the services of the experienced duo. The new two-year contracts handed over by the Dragons to the duo will keep them with the Dragons until the end of the 2013 season.
The duo of Mounis and Bosc are the products of the Saint – Esteve Rugby School. They signed their professional contracts with the Dragons in 2006 to start their Rugby League careers.
Robinson named Mounis as captain of the side after Bosc sustained a serious injury to his knee. Mounis has played all 23 games for the Dragons so far in the 2011 Engage Super League season and scored four tries.
The 26-year-old Mounis holds the record of the highest number of Super League appearances for the Dragons. He so has made 147 Super League appearances for Dragons and has scored 20 tries.
Mounis has expressed his pleasure on inking a new deal which will allow him to extend his stay at the club. He added, “I have had six wonderful years with the club in this competition, it is the club where I started playing rugby. The fact that we have had
such a good season, on and off the pitch, means that I had no hesitation in staying on.”
Robinson has praised Mounis’ overall performance and particularly his performance as captain in the season.
Bosc missed most of the current season due to an injury to his knee. Earlier in 2010 season, a dangerous ankle injury also kept him out of the game for most of the season. However, at 100 percent fitness he is considered to be as one of the best back players
in Super League.
The 28-year-old Bosc holds the record of the highest point scorer for the Catalan Dragons. In his 106 Super League appearances for Dragons, he so far has scored 701 points for Dragons, which consists of the 289 penalties and conversion, three-drop goals
and 30 tries.
The former Catalan Dragons captain has expressed his delight on signing the new deal with the club. He has thanked the club management and coaching staff for their support and confidence in him, in spite of the fact that he has missed most of the last two
seasons.
Bosc added, “It is very good to see that people still believe in me and to know that they continue to support me. It touches my heart to be able to continue playing for the club and to continuing my career here.”
Robinson has expressed his confidence that Bosc, with his hard work and motivation, will rejoin the squad in a few months time. He has also praised the abilities and work ethic of the club’s star player.
