  1. It's a make of boat

  2. Catalina are good medium priced sailboats, single hull, sized about 20 to 80 feet.

  3. Catalina is connected to lots of water sports - the other poster is right - Catalina is an island off the coast of Southern California.  There is a major shipping lane that runs between the island and the mainland, and many boat races cross that channel.

There are stand up paddleboard crossings, sailboat regattas, outrigger canoe races, and all kinds of other events.

  4. Besides being a make of a boat,it is also a name of an island off the Southern California coast 20 miles south of Palos Verdes peninsula. Catalina Island is mostly a private island partly owned by the Wrigleys of the "wrigleys" chewing gum family. There is also one short and dangerous airfield there, along with wild american bison and an old casino I believe built in the 30's.It makes for a nice 1 or 2 day boating trip from the San Pedro Harbor or other harbors not too far on the mainland.
