  1. I have been to Catalina many times. Mostly I stayed in a relatives home there. There are no real deals on lodging on Catalina. It can be expensive. You need to search a little and stay away from holiday times like Easter.

They have boats that take you from San Pedro to Catalina and it takes about one hour to get there. Flying is much more expensive but they do have an airport on top of the mountain.

Attractions include: beach, swimming, snorkeling, fishing, water sports, hiking, biking, tours (animals and parts of island), and shopping. A week there can be fun just walking around as everyone walks there or rides bikes.

Remember everything is expensive. Try buying a carton and milk and you will see ($6). So staying for a week is going to cost you big bucks. If you stay away from hotels and look for cottages, cabins or vacation rentals you will cut down on the cost of food. Meals are expensive and to even buy food there it is expensive. You are stranded once there and must buy food on the island.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the cost for two persons in the same room for a week can easily cost you $3,000-$4,000.

You can have a cheaper spring break camping on the beach in So California. There are some neat campgrounds on the beach and you can have campfires too. You will still have fun and spend so much less.
