The Elefanti President snubs AS Roma’s interest and states that the Etnei coach has a contract with the club, and he intends to built the team around the manager.
Catania President, Antonino Pulvirenti, has insisted that Vincenzo Montella is integral to his long-term plans for the Elephants, and reminds the manager that he has a contract with the club.
AS Roma are currently on the lookout for another head coach after Luis Enrique’s resignation, and the Rossazzurri manager is being strongly linked with a move to the capital outfit.
The statement is apparently in response to the manager’s recent admission that he has a weakness for the Giallorossi, and would love to move back to his former club.
Pulvirenti insisted that the situation is not just surprising but uncalled for, and insisted that the tactician’s words have betrayed his expectations.
The Elefanti President insisted that it is wrong for Montella to go around telling that he has a weakness for the Giallorossi, when he is aware that he has signed a contract with Catania, and is obligated to stay until its expiry.
The Rossazzurri chief revealed that AS Roma called him to express their interest in the manager, but stated that he has declined the possibility of such a move because he wants the coach to stay at Stadio Angelo.
While talking to Radio Radio, the Italian entrepreneur stated:
“I didn’t think I would find myself in this situation at the end of the season and it’s really disappointing. Montella has repeatedly told me he has a weakness for the Giallorossi, but he knows perfectly well that he signed a contract.
I received a phone call at the start of the week from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 and I told them at this moment I am not taking into consideration the idea of giving away my Coach.”
Pulvirenti stated that he respects the fact that AS Roma are giants of Italian football. However, the Elefanti chief insisted that he has resurrected a new Catania around Montella, using the January transfer window to provide the
manager with all the right elements, and stated that he does not want to throw it all away.
